CRST Transportation Mission

Utilizing available resources to repair, maintain, and rebuild our roadway system for the safety of our residents and all travelers to our land while upholding the Bureau of Indian Affairs to their trust responsibility and treaty promises.

The Department has an annual construction budget of approximately $2.2 million per year. $575k of that is set aside for road maintenance such as blading, crack sealing, pothole repair, etc... We also have the Elderly Roads Program that is a competitive request-based program where the department will repair/rebuild roads for individuals that have their requests selected. This program also provides emergency snow removal into individual homes.

The Department also runs the CRST Transit in conjunction with River Cities Public Transit.

The CRST Department of Transportation is currently working on a 20 year Long Range Transportation Plan.  It is currently available for public comment.  Copies of the Long Range Plan can be picked up at the Transportation Office in Eagle Butte.  Public comments need to be turned into Dakota Longbrake, Director of Transportation at his office or emailed to dlongbrake@lakotanetwork.com by November 30, 2021.
